About Wiqara Personalised Fitness
Wiqara Is Built on a Principle.
Exercise is not punishment. It is not just about appearance. When appropriately prescribed and progressed, it is one of the most powerful and accessible tools we have to support long-term health, physical capability and quality of life.
Where It Started
Meet the Founder of Wiqara
Wiqara emerged from my firsthand experience as a trainer within commercial gyms. I encountered countless clients who were doing things wrong for their body — not through any fault of their own, but because the environment they were in wasn’t built to look after them. Programs were generic. Attention was divided. Nobody was taking the time to actually understand how each individual moved, what their history was, or what they genuinely needed.
The commercial gym model is built around volume. More members, more sessions, more revenue. What suffers is the thing that matters most: the individual. Their specific body. Their history. Their goals. Their technique.
I founded Wiqara to do things differently. Smaller. More deliberate. Built on science.
Our Philosophy
Exercise, in particular resistance strength training is a proactive approach to health.
Resistance training builds a resilent and capable body. Recovery from conditions,
We view Exercise It’s the thing you do before the injury, before the chronic condition, before the loss of capability that most people attribute to “just getting older.” When done well, it builds a body that can handle an injury if one happens, reduces the risk of chronic conditions, and slows the avoidable physical decline that comes with age.
At Wiqara, we move that conversation beyond appearance and weight loss — toward something more important: the role that properly guided exercise plays in your physical capability, your resilience, and your quality of life.
We believe exercise should be proactive, not just reactive.
Too often, people turn to exercise after something has gone wrong — an injury, a health concern, a loss of strength, or a decline in physical capability.
At Wiqara, we take a different approach. We use exercise — particularly resistance training — to build strength, physical capacity and resilience before those limitations begin to define what you can do.
When appropriately prescribed and progressed, exercise can help reduce the risk of many chronic conditions, maintain muscle and bone strength, improve physical function, and preserve the capabilities that become increasingly important as we age. That is why we move the conversation beyond appearance and weight loss. Exercise is not simply about how your body looks. It is about what your body can do — now, and for the years ahead.
We Educate. We Don’t Just Train.
How you perform an exercise is just as important as which exercise you perform. We don’t put you through a session and send you home. We explain what you’re doing, why you’re doing it, and how each exercise connects to your goals.
Understanding what you’re doing makes you better at it. It also makes training something you want to keep doing.
Our Team
Every trainer at Wiqara holds a university degree in exercise and sport science and is accredited by Exercise & Sports Science Australia (ESSA). That depth of knowledge shapes how we assess you, build your program, coach your technique, and progress your training — session by session.
(As Wiqara grows, every trainer who joins will hold the same qualification standard. It’s not a preference — it’s a principle.)

Working With Your Healthcare Team
We sit alongside your GP, physiotherapist, osteopath, and other practitioners — not in competition with them. If your physio has discharged you and told you to “keep up the strength work,” we’re the next step. If your GP has recommended exercise for a specific condition, we can turn that recommendation into a properly designed, safe program.
We ask new clients to bring any relevant reports — physio notes, surgical history, a list of medications — so we can design around the full picture from day one.
Common Questions
What is an exercise scientist?
An accredited exercise scientist holds a three-year university degree covering anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, pathology, nutrition science, and exercise prescription. They are trained to apply this knowledge clinically — assessing complex health histories, designing programs for specific conditions, and understanding the body at a level that goes well beyond a fitness certification.
What's the difference between an exercise scientist and a personal trainer?
A personal trainer typically holds a Certificate III or IV in Fitness: a qualification completed in weeks to months covering general fitness instruction and basic program design. An accredited exercise scientist holds a minimum four-year university degree, with significantly deeper training in anatomy, physiology, biomechanics, pathology, and clinical exercise prescription.
In practice: a personal trainer can guide you through a general workout. An exercise scientist has the knowledge to design around a complex injury history, a chronic health condition, post-surgical recovery, or medication that affects your response to exercise — and to liaise intelligently with your medical team when it matters.
